Great sad song, one that stood out when it was released as the quality of chart hits was in rapid decline. I have the Rhino CD with it.

Thanks for the memories! A CD is a great thing to have, but an original 45-rpm record in mint condition just can't be beat!

A song that brings a tear to ones eye, cause we all have regrets from our past. i sure do,even if i wasnt the one burning those bridges. How about the sweet flip side,"my hometown"? It also takes one back to never to be seen again days.

Can you please tell me what year (the song, not the movie)this was released?..'69 or '70?...I have an old, very old and scratchy 'greatest hits of the day' LP lost somewhere in my home, and I'm pretty sure it was 1970

Excellent Thank You for sharing.
Wasn't Mike Curb of The Mike Curb Congregation CEO of MGM music at the time.
BTW Is that a Technics SL3300 turntable ?.
Morasch (August 17, 2008 at 11:49 am)
Mike Curb was a higher up person at MGM, but I don't recall his title at the time.

The turntable is a Technics SL-1500MK2.
1978 vintage.
