Deliverance - Redneck Scene 1
BackIntent on seeing the Cahulawassee River before it's turned into one huge lake, outdoor fanatic Lewis (Burt Reynolds) takes his friends Bobby (Ned Beatty), Ed (Jon Voight), and Drew (Ronny Cox) on a river-rafting trip the will never forget.
This scene contains classic Redneck lines such as "Drop them pants", and "have you ever got your balls cut off you f*cking ape".

Git-R Done hahahhaahaha I agree who did they have in mind before they had Ned Beatty?I am sorry but if I was Bobby and they told me to remove my pants I would have been more like "no-it's o.k.,I'd rather be shot!"I guess they did it because they like fuckin' corporate yuppies who got lost and wander into parts where they don't belong.Why did'nt Ed put up more of a fight,and it looks as though that Bobby is almost enjoying it as he's getting it up the ass-no fighting back or nothing what the hell

The point is that the Burt Reynolds character (Lewis) foolishly puts them into a world in which they have no business. He represents hubris--foolish pride. He finds his limit when the river breaks his leg and his spirit. Bobby (Beatty) is a composite of all the fears of modern, urban man--no need to comment on what happens to him. Ed (Voight) represents the untapped spiritual rigor that is inside that same modern, urban man--he ultimatley prevails by surviving: hence, "Deliverance."
