PVC and ABS flanges can also be Dremel cut and the inside of the pipe sanded to accept a new flange but the problem is with the cheapo plastic so this works better, I usually install them with a new flange. Iron ones rarely break unless the floor is bad under it allowing breakage by way of the slack. Also be sure the floor under the toilet is flat - use floor leveler and a trowel to fill (or replace the wood if really shot) so the bowl doesnt rock on the floor. Use a new ring, never re-use old.

Are spanner flanges sold at Home Depot and Lowes? Whats the best way to attach to a concrete floor?

Pork,

What if I only tighten the allen screws? Will it be stable enough? Where did you get it? I went to Home Depot and they didn't have it.

Woot, thanks for the repaired toilet. I feared falling off the thing and klunking my head on the tub the thing was so wobbley.

Isn't the Internet great? It's like an oracle of information on just about any subject; not just printed words, but videos and real people talking. That's got to be good for supply houses like Home Depot, but I'm not sure it's helping plumbers and other professional repair people. It's become so much easier and challenging to do your own home repairs, and car repairs too. Thanks to the YouTube contributors for sharing their knowledge and experience.
