I think people like MagicDancer08 need to get a sense of perspective. In Britain healthcare for example is completely free. The rejection of things like the State Children's Health Insurance Program on grounds of cost and fears over socialism (fears which still wrongly plague the US) seem a little ridiculous for the richest nation on earth. Go Joe and Barack, with a little luck and skill the stage is surely set for them to be mentioned in the same league as FDR, JFK and LBJ as great reformers.

Ohhh, that "Google for Government" thing would be pretty interesting to see!

I live in Norway and here the university is realtively free, with some exceptions: schools books and so on.Our welfare system is far from perfect(high taxes)but a good health and school sytem is something every country needs and I am glad to see a president in the USA, who has some accurate goals to reach when it comes to a better welfare system. You should know that the percentage who drops out of highschool is much less than the percentage who can not attend college, because of lack of money.

True, I live in The Netherlands, we a 50 % flat tax, 20% sales tax, 33% corporate tax, but we are doing fine at the moment, even with the recession. Middle class is doing fine, no body getting kicked out of their houses, health care is basicly free, education is basicly free. No budget deficits...

Call us socialist or anything, were doing fine here in Europe! Good luck Americans!

Sc0rpic0m,
Wow! Count yourself blessed, and I truly mean it. Keep counting your many blessings, for to some, life in general has become awfully ugly in parts of this global village. And it is getting uglier by the day, before it gets any better! Thanks for letting us know that there is "sunshine" economically in the Netherlands. Count yourself lucky and blessed!
