Dont get me wrong but this performance is only awesome because it is Iggy Pop. If it was some random unknown this would be considered nothing if heard by the same number of people. Not that I still think its cool.

Yes they do know the real words. The story goes...back when the song first came out, people couldn't understand what they were singing and a rumor went around that they were sexually explicit lyrics. I believe the song even got banned from some radio stations. I have a live album of the Kingsmen and the recording is quite good so you can hear all the words just fine.
