I have a friend that has a seafood allergy... 백김치를 먹기 싫은데 매운김친만 먹고싶어요. We live in Los Angeles, and every market has some sort of 굴, or 새우젓, or fish sauce... 그런걸 없으면 맛있게 만들 수 있어요? 인테넷으로 찾았지만 I found nothing and I'm desperate! Do you know if it's possible to substitute the 해물 for something else?

If you can't eat fish sauce or oysters, just skip it.

Maangchi, Hi! It's very calming watching you cook. In Oklahoma, the only place we see kimchi is on a sushi bar. Is the thinly sliced, beautiful, bright green seaweed that also accompanies sushi a Japanese food, or a Korean item? How does one prepare the seaweed? Does it come dried, in a bag?

I covered my kimchi with seran wrap and a loose tupperware cover and notice the next day that liquid was coming out. Does the container have to be airtight? Thanks by the way for the video :)

I hope your next door Korean lady gave you some of her fresh kimchi whenever she made! : )
If you feel uncomfortable with oyster, just skip it. I love fresh kimchi. Right after making it, I sprinkle lots of roasted sesame seeds and eat it with warm rice.
