I have been to Chauteux Versailles. It is a hunting lodge transformed into a royal palace for Louis XIV-- the "Sun King."
The reson why the Royal Court and the capital was moved from Paris to Versailes was that the King wanted to control his subjects by isolating his entire government from the idea of gaining independence by revolting in a revoluttion. Albeit, France eventually followed America's example when in 1789, the Fall of the Bastille, and the execution of Louis XVI occurred.

my teacher said that the palace had 2,000 rooms, for all the nobles to stay in. You said there were over 700? I think there are way more than that. The palace is about 5 times high as a football stadium, so surely there are many, MANY more than 700 rooms.

These people were starving, if it was not for Louis XIV they would die of starvation. At least they they made them selves useful in helping the great architects to finish that superb palace.

The palace of Versailles was a product of an innocent mind. Millions of slaves had been died building the great palace.

I wonder home many innocent people died building that home...?

Tthe building of Versailles was far from an ordeal for the workers. It turned out to be one of the best jobs available in those days. Farmers from all over France (and even Europe) would flock to Versailles just to work there. The pay was high, room and board were provided, and it is the first instance of paid time-off in the history of mankind. It really was a sweet deal (for that era). Coal mining in China (or in the US) in the year 2008 is probably a tougher job. Besides, look at the result!

Be smart for once. Don't intrude on others' discussions, especially when you got to read only the first 1% of the threads.
And please do not contact me again. Rags don't mix well with towels. I don't suffer imbeciles so well either. Wiser for you to remain in your minor league.
