Man this is great thanks for posting, this makes my life easier. I was reading the tutorials, but this is much better!

I guess with version 7 all you have to do is use the "slice to MIDI" command.

how do you get a beat you make into your arrangement view? i've been exporting the midi loop, closing ableton, opening it back up, and then pasting it in. i'm sure there's a simpler way than that, though...help?

@ satanbuttt
you should have a midi clip on your session view, so you can just drag it to your arrangement view, it's done...
but you can choose to record it directly too, it's well explain on the pdf.

The people that are boasting about learning Ableton in "10 minutes" or calling this pointless are imbeciles. The point of this video is that the tutor has taken a 'live' recorded sound and spliced it up to it's components, to allow you to control them. He is NOT just arranging MIDI sounds in a standard sequence; that can be done in seconds.

I never said you can learn Live in 10mn, I said I did exactly what is explained on this video + effects in 10 mn.
And when I'm talking about drum loops, I'm talking about audio, not midi,
well I should say "if you "just" want to use an already audio loop..."
but, just for a laugh, if you want to use a midi loop with an already audio loop it's possible too, just rearranging the keys after what is explained here...
everything's possible with Live !!
;-)

hmmmm you don't even have to use the impulse to re-arrange/edit the beat. You can just do it in the sequencer.

thanks a lot
