I thought the beats on this album were his most original. Most rap albums used the same breakbeat pattern, bland beats or not, at least wyclef tried to make something new. I'm not saying this was Bis's best work, just that it was his best work when looking at it from an underground point of view. This album was a lot like U-God's first cd. Mainstream wise, 2000 B.C. seems to be the best. Seriously, I got Hip Hop for Sale and it ain't nothin compared to what he did on 2000 B.C. and Can-I-Bus.

was u god first album good?

yeah, from what I've heard some tracks from it and it was pretty dope, but if you like RZA's production, then you might be disappointed because RZA only did four songs on it, which got U-God pissed off. Canibus's Hip Hop for Sale was good too, but not one for indie fans.

canibus one of the most intelligent m.c.s... i wonder why wyclef dropped him. this was his best album. canibus first single was with wyclef, gone till november. lol

I think it was more of Bis dropping Clef. The record sales didn't match the hype that Bis was creating around the time that this dropped. Canibus was supposed to be the next big rap star and that didn't quite pan out. THey both blamed this CD, but it was more of Bis being too unique and lyric oriented for the mainstream.

And I wouldn't call this his best effort at all. I think Mic Club: The Curriculum, Rip the Jacker and For Whom the Bell Tolls are all better releases than Can-i-bus.

*edit* For Whom the Beat Tolls...not Whom the Bell Tolls.

This is one of the few tracks on the CD that Clef actually did a good job producing.
