The reason for rising upon hearing the Hallelulah Chorus is because at Mesiah's premiere in London...King George rose and his loyal British subjects...in keeping with royal etiquette role also.

at that point of the song, it's only the tenors. First it's the bases, then tenors, then altos and then sopranos. It only makes sense that you hear the tenor over the entire choir there... since that group is the only one singing...

i think that overpowering a choir with at least more than 50 people in it is oversinging. its a CHOIR piece without SOLOS. and it obviously cant be healthy to sing over that many people, not is it a nice sound
