Joe Diorio Blues

Back

One of the greastest Jazz Guitar players of all times, a genius,The underrated and unsung Jazz guitar hero Joe Diorio in an intimate setting with the late brazilian virtuoso bass player Nico Assumpcao, recorded in Brasilia Brazil in 1995.An amateur poor video recording, but with a great historical and musical significance.
JOE DIORIO is also a great educator and his books are great material for amateur and professional jazz guitarists, check some of his books and DVDs at www.melbay.com and his music at www.artofliferecords.com.Recently some of Diorio's most rare recordings were released, the albuns Solo Guitar and Bonita, now on CD.

Joe's playing is a treasure. He belongs at the pinnacle of jazz musicianship with Trane, Bird, Wes, and Miles.

This is my favorite clip of Diorio's playing thank you for posting this. The Bass player is truly fantastic with him. Diorios playing is a fountain of melodic and harmonic inspiration.

It's just like Mick Goodrick says, "An idea in one key can be available to you in many keys if you work on it."

Joe is incredible. Check out this guitarist called Wes Montgomery. I think he swings and has a wealth of ideas. Who is richer, Bill Gates or Thomas Edison? Who really knows. How would you compute such a thing? I agree he is amazing and one of the wealthiest in ideas.
