I actually learned a few of these dances; now I don't practice anymore, but I love the music to them. Very cool!

Maryam, I really enjoy your videos. It is interesting that ha-galut has minor variations (turning this direction instead of that one, this step instead of another, this hand movement instead of that one) of these dances.
I guess it is because we are free unlike some other countries.

What do you mean "Jewish roots"?
Hageulah (April 1, 2008 at 5:42 pm)
Because my father was an Ashkenazi Jew (he died in 1972) and my mother came from a jewish family too, but they are Convertiten (Baptism) in the time of the 19. century...

I thought Dror Yikra was a yemenite jewish song, not an ashkenazi song. Yemeni jewish and Ashkenazi cultures could not be more different from each other (though the religion is the same).

Yes, of course, I know that "Dror Yikra" is an Yemenite Prayer Song and not an Ashkenazi like par example "Oyfn Weg shteyt a Boym"; we dance to it too in Hebrew "Shir Al Etz". Mirjam
