All the upcoming stuff is about Harvest. The book that just came out explains how the war started, this game is gonna show the scope of the storyline, the movie will be in there somewhere, and Recon will show the ODSTs!

Spartan-II's did take part in the battle.
It take the UNSC 5 years to take the system back plus it took the the navy 6 years to secure the planets by the time the ground troops arive the spartan have aquire the the armour.

the spartan have to graduate early because of what hapen at Harvest.
When the navy discover Harvest is under attack and the UNSC send ship to investigate .... before the navel battle at harvest the spartans were send to aquire their armour.
by the time the grounds force arrive at the system the spartans are combat ready.
