No you aren't. It just takes a lot of coordination and musical familiarity.
Case in point:
I've played violin for 10 years, but suck at it. I played guitar for 6 months and I'm getting pretty good. The finger placement in violin gave me a lot of what I needed for guitar. I suck at any instruments that don't have strings.
