Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity E=mc2 speed of light

Back

The steps Einstein took to develop his special theory of relativity are as follows: First, Einstein tried to understand what must be implied by the fact that light travels at a speed independent of its source. From this, he realized that time and space are not simply two unrelated concepts; rather, they must be linked in a space-time system whose properties appear most dramatically when objects move very fast and are observed by two different observers moving with respect to one another. His final and greatest step led him to discover and clarify mathematically many new things about the world that are important in each and every frame of reference.

In each and every frame of reference, there are relationships that hold because of the nature of space and time. If space and time were to be reconceived in a new interactive way, then other things, like momentum and energy, had to be reconceived, too. In fact, momentum and energy are linked like space and time.

@goerizal:

That is a theory, yes, but an incorrect one at that. If you picture black holes, as the wonder as they are, light cannot escape. This provides two possibilities:

1) Light has a mass of ALMOST zero
2) Light and black holes are both post-dimensional, allowing for means of bending paths of travel of that with no mass.

Think, which honestly sounds more likely?

the last statement of this geat video said that for 'every second the earth is struck by four and a half pounds of sunlight'. I thought the photons have no mass but only pure energy. coudl someone clarify this? thanks.

Omg the bad sound quality.... I cant stand this!

Einstein tries to show us that almost all measurements are relative not absolute, then someone here calls him an absolute genius! Relative to this observer, that's ironic!

hey you know theres no sound in space. oxygen provides the sound to travel and since their is no oxygen in space there is no sound what soo ever! so all those space movies you see when their fighting and shooting at each other theres no sound. also when you see those stars blowing up, in reality of space there is no big noise that can or will be heard unless there is somekind of atmosphere that sound may travel through.
WTT1978 (November 8, 2008 at 7:20 am)
Spot on there is no sound. The only si-fi movie to get that right was Stanley Kubrics 2001. Watch and see and NOT hear!

was Einstein's Theory good? Relativity.
HippiesRbad (November 1, 2008 at 5:06 am)
of course it was good. It was mutha flipping awsome. It radically changed how humans thought about our universe and led to some really good shit like quantum physics.
