It's interesting. Beatles Gear by Andy Babiuk says that John Lennon and Pete Best wanted to stick with the leathers and insinuates they were tease for being queer for wearing suits. Sounds like that's not the case according to Paul.

He's cute, Brian. I don't think that John Lennon was sexually involved with him. During his Bed-In with Yoko in Canada a conservative politician took a shot at him about whether two well-known politicians should get into bed too to solve their problems too, and John joked that it would probably do them good! Check out the footage on YouTube. John was liberal minded.

No, John says in an interview (I think Rolling Stone?) that he wasn't rich but he was definitely in a nice middle class suburb with Mimi and the lot. He was the wealthiest of all of the Beatles though. Common misconception.
