From the MSNBC site. An interview with mike asking about these videos. This is what Mike said:
Branches are what people acquire in the way of wisdom, he said. And then he reaches down and acquires a little more experience, a little more wisdom. Reaches down, picks up a little more wisdom. And then goes out and starts a fire.
What does a fire represent? Gravel asked rhetorically. Fire represents light, heat, warmth. Its the sustenance of life.

the point of these gravel commercials is to show he is nature oriented and the rock is like a ripple effect once he's elected things will start improving

Yeah he missed the point on the fire. But with Rock, he wasnt too far off. He said its a metaphor. The ripples in the water are like the ripples in society he will create if he is elected
