i wonder what bukowski would think the dominance of poetry/hiphop in culture today...(the authentic, independant stuff that inspires and informs the corporate stuff...)

Bukowski would hate slam / hip hop poetry. I feel sad about the state of poetry today. There's a lack of depth and a lack of risk. Poetry stopped being philosophical, except in a middle class sense. Now, "established poets" write about non-offensive topics. They write nature poems. Bukowski had balls.
